Presenter: Dr. Mark Fagan
Dr. Fagan, author of Retirement Development: A How-To Guidebook and The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail: History and Impact (in print), received his doctorate in Social Policy, Planning, and Administration at The University of Alabama in 1981 and worked at Jacksonville State University from 1981-2014.
Most of his 111 publications and technical writings have focused on retiree migration, the economic impact of retirees, how retirees can be attracted and the development of planned and naturally occurring retirement communities.
He served as a consultant to The Retirement Systems of Alabama on the development of The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. He was a program developer for the Alabama Program to Attract Retirees from 1988 to 1992, where 94 local communities received assistance from the state to attract retirees.
Dr. Fagan has coordinated four Governor’s Conferences, made 55 major presentations, and 93 minor presentations around the nation on retirees and economic development.
Dr. Fagan’s presentation will focus on the following topics: Retirees and Economic Development; Retiree Interstate Migration; The Economic Impact of The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail; Community Assessment for Retirement; The Mature Market; and Communicating with The Mature Market. Participants will receive a copy of Retirement Development: A How-To Guidebook.
